YPARD invites young people, youth organizations, and food systems stakeholders to join the upcoming Changemakers for Agri-food Action webinar, “COP31: Results and Outlooks for the Future, Youth Mitigation Action from the Territories.”
The webinar will take place on Thursday, 10 December 2026, from 15:00 to 16:00 CET via Zoom. It will provide a platform for young people and organizations to reflect on the outcomes of COP31 and explore how global climate commitments can translate into meaningful action within local communities.
Launched by YPARD in 2024, the Changemakers for Agri-food Action webinar series equips young people, including members of the YPARD Policy Working Group, with the knowledge, resources, and advocacy skills needed to engage effectively in international policy processes.
This year's series focuses on the synergies among the Rio Conventions, particularly their relevance to agrifood systems. It seeks to strengthen youth leadership in advancing agroecological approaches and integrated policies addressing climate change, biodiversity loss, and land degradation.
COP31 offers an important opportunity to assess progress in international climate action and identify pathways for accelerating the implementation of mitigation and adaptation commitments. However, translating global decisions into action on the ground remains a critical challenge.
Across Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia, and other regions, young people are already contributing to climate mitigation and resilience through agroecology, sustainable food production, ecosystem restoration, renewable energy, and community-based natural resource management.
The webinar will bring together youth representatives, climate advocates, and other stakeholders to explore the links between COP31 outcomes and locally driven climate solutions.
Participants will have the opportunity to:
The programme will feature expert insights into COP31 negotiations related to agriculture and food systems, youth-led case studies from Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Asia, and a panel discussion on youth climate action and advocacy beyond COP31. Dedicated question-and-answer sessions will provide space for participants to exchange experiences and perspectives.
Organized by YPARD on behalf of the GIZ Global Project Ambitious Climate Contributions in Agrifood Systems (ClimA), commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the webinar contributes to efforts to strengthen the advocacy capacities of young people and youth organizations.
By connecting international policy discussions with community-level experiences, the session aims to highlight youth contributions, strengthen recognition of local solutions, and identify pathways for improving young people's participation and access to resources for climate action.
